SYNCHRONIZED IMMERSIVE SOUND

SIS coordinates multiple autonomous audio units positioned throughout a physical environment. Each unit can reproduce its assigned content from its actual location, making the physical distribution of the sources part of the spatial experience.
Audio content is made available locally to each unit before playback.
The network carries commands and timing information; continuous audio streaming is not required.
Every unit operates with reference to a shared synchronized time base.
Sound components originate from autonomous sources located in real positions.
SYNCHRONIZED BY TIME
A command may include a future execution instant, T1. Units can receive that command at different moments, prepare their locally available content, then execute it independently when their synchronized time base reaches T1.
LOCAL AUTONOMY / GLOBAL COORDINATION
An autonomous unit combines network communication, processing and control, access to local audio content, a synchronized time reference, and an audio reproduction chain.
The specific memory, protocol, format and implementation can vary. The architecture is defined by how these functions work together.
